One Tesla Cybercab could earn up to $500,000 in profit over its lifetime, based on estimates from investor Ron Baron. Baron, the founder of Baron Capital and one of Tesla’s largest investors, believes a robotaxi driving around 50,000 miles a year could generate roughly $40,000 to $50,000 in annual profit. The Cybercab is reportedly designed for about 500,000 miles of use, which at that pace would keep it on the road for roughly 10 years. Applying Baron’s numbers over that lifespan works out to an estimated $400,000 to $500,000 in profit from a single vehicle. Its low operating cost helps the case, with ARK Invest estimating the Cybercab could run at just $0.20 per mile, well below today’s robotaxis. Still, these figures depend on big assumptions. Tesla will need to achieve high utilization, strong margins and regulatory approval to operate driverless at scale, while costs like insurance, cleaning, charging and repairs will also affect real world earnings. Tesla is aiming to deliver the first Cybercabs to customers by the end of 2026, and has said most will run in its own Robotaxi network as a transport service
