What's Bad
Difficult to reverse park without sensors. No standard spare wheel, just a can of foam. Needs the 17" wheels to handle securely. I-Shift not on UK market until April 2006. Much awaited Type R did not arrive until March 2007. 3-door obviously less convenient than 5-door.
What to Watch Out For
High cost of servicing the 1.4. Valve/cam clearances cannot be checked without removing the inlet manifold, adding £80 to the cost of a service. 2nd annual service can cost £430 including a new set of front pads.
Voltage regulator and/or earthing fault can lead to glow plugs of 2.2i CDTi staying on and burning out. Diesels can use as much as a litre in 600 miles, so vital to check the oil regularly. Big yellow oilcan oil warning light comes on when oil is about 2mm below the low mark on the dipstick. 4,000 miles a litre is more normal.
Also on 06 - 07 2.2iCDTI the the oil level sensor (wrongly) can sent a code to the ECU and cause a battery discharge. When driving this is indicated by the oil light coming on. A dealer software download cures it.
More build quality problems: Foglamps vulnerable to stone damage and cost a whopping £146 each to replace. Thin screen glass is structural and prone to cracking when hit by stones. Complaints of water leaks from rear window into luggage well and passenger cabin, faulty bonding of rear window with spoiler, faulty doors and door handles, fuel filler cap release problems, rattles inside the cabin.

Complaints of radios losing signal.
Headlight seals can fail and headlights fill with condensation.
One report of car immobilised due to corroded fuel pump.
Early production problems, sorted by 2007 include:-
By mid February 2006, on a 2.2iCDTI bought January 2006, one reader had faulty rear shock absorbers replaced under warranty, lower dash panel replaced under warranty because it squeaked and did not fit properly, upper dash panel coming adrift.
One reader's experience: (1) Irritating vibration induced noise from the front passenger seat when unoccupied. Cured after two visits to the Honda dealer. (2) Moisture build-up in rear light lens assembly. Replaced under warranty. (3) Plastic trim on near-side wheel arch loose. Repaired under warranty. (4) Rear shock absorbers noisy. Replaced under warranty. (5) Rear shock absorbers still noisy. To be dealt with.
Another reader's tale of woe: "I finally decided to get rid of my Civic after 21,000 miles and 6 warranty recalls. It was a lemon and has badly affected my trust in Honda. I had 2 AA call outs for a dead car, new battery seemed to have sorted this. I had rust on the sub frame to the drivers seat, which had to be taken out, stripped and re built over 2 days. Rust on the rear boot gas struts, that needed replacing, loose wheel arch trims on the front, that the dealer refused to put right. Also very heavy on front tyres, 11,000 and i am not a speed merchant. Also new front pads at 21,000. One side worn, other 80%. Dealer blamed driver, obviously a fault. I would not recommend this car to a friend."
Faulty batch of cylinder heads on second quarter 2008 production can lead to excessive oil consumption.
Another rewader's list of problems with a 2006 Civic by early 2009:
Delivered Jan 2007- Tailgate not fitted correctly and had to be aligned under warranty.
Jan 2008- 1st service and rear discs and pads replaced under warranty due to
corrosion. Parts not available for handbrake recall.
April 2007- Flat battery due to oil level sensor fault. Handbrake recall carried
out at this time.
Jan 2009- 2nd service, replaced rear discs and pads at my cost, front bump stops
replaced under warranty, rear road springs inverted under warranty.
Recalls
Early 2006 TSB to replace rear shocks on early production as and when adequate supplies of replacement shocks came through. 02-10-2006: Ref : R/2006/154
3036 Civics built 02/05/2006 to 28/06/2006 recalled because engine may cut out or fail to start. Caused by water residue from tank testing procedure being left on the fuel pump wiring connector block. Can result in electrolytic corrosion of the connector terminals which may then break, thus interrupting the electrical supply to the fuel pump, with subsequent loss of fuel pressure. Check for corrosion and or water on the fuel pump connector block. Should this situation be found, the fuel pump assembly will be replaced.
December 2007: Recall over parking brake because the spring in the lever mechanism has been fitted the wrong way round. Meantime drivers advised to apply the brake WITHOUT pressing in the ratchet button.

Tale seznam napak pa je tako dober, da bi nanj bili ponosni celo v Renultu. Mogoče je čas, da se iz UK preseli v Albanijo proizvodnja. Se bo vsaj kakovost izdelave malce izboljšala.
Še dobro, da je moj BMW narejen in Deutschland. Seznam napak pa je tudi nekajkrat krajši od zgornjega. Toliko o Hondi...
